If ever there were a classic combo it’s tator tots and bacon. Little crispy baked potato tots can not be resisted! Bacon Wrapped Tots with Homemade Ranch Dressing are a game changer in this house. Add some fresh, homemade ranch dressing to dip these crunchy nibbles in and you are set for any party or game day snack.
Beyond easy to make these ridiculously tasty bites of crispy, golden brown tator tots are wrapped with bacon flavor of choice and baked to a crunchy finish. While I love a maple or pepper bacon (shout out to Loveless Cafe!) a cajun spiced works well here, too.
What better way to serve it up than with some of my fresh, Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing. Made with buttermilk, fresh herbs, lemon and some pantry items, this is way better than store bought ranch dressing. I’ve made it now with sour cream and Greek yogurt and can’t decide which version I like better… you decide.
It doesn’t get any easier. Now wrap that bacon around each tot and bake. It’s as easy as that.

Do you use frozen or thawed tots?
I use frozen tots and let them thaw slightly so they still hold their shape and don’t crumble. These are so addicting!
Very tasty tater tots with bacon wraps. How can you handle the excess bacon grease?
Would it be better to cook bacon separate and just wrap around the baked tater tots? Thanks.
Joann, if your bacon has a lot of fat on it, you might find it helpful to partially cook the bacon in a microwave or frying pan for a couple of minutes before wrapping it around the tots.
I am so making these for Sunday football I will use sweet potato tarts.
These are my favorite appetizers they are so easy to eat. The ranch makes them even better. I would double the batch they will go fast.
Next time leave me a few! 🙂
I just love your recipe Kevin. This is another awesome idea. I didn’t think tater tots could get any better, but of course, bacon! I’ll have to give your ranch a try too.
Thanks Danielle, double the batch, they go quickly! 🙂
Could you make these in quantity and put them in a crock pot for a party?
